Terms of Service

UrbanRetire is a retirement-planning calculator. It projects your household spending and investments forward, using assumptions you can review and edit, and estimates whether a given retirement corpus would last through your planning horizon.

The Service provides estimates only and is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. It is a deterministic model driven by the assumptions you enter and does not predict actual market outcomes. Consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.

Using the Service requires verifying an email address with a one-time code. We do not use passwords: anyone who can receive email at your address can access the plans saved under it. Keep access to your inbox secure.

Saved plans are stored under the verified email, and the Service keeps a limited number of plans per email (currently one completed plan and one in-progress draft). You can delete a plan at any time from its results page.

A share link carries only the plan's random identifier, not the plan's contents. Whoever has the link can open the plan, so treat a share link as you would any capability URL and do not post it publicly.

You agree not to, and not to permit anyone else to:

• scrape, crawl, or systematically access the Service, or attempt to circumvent rate limits or other technical controls;
• reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, models, or underlying methodology of the Service;
• copy, reproduce, or reimplement the Service or its methodology, in whole or in part, to create a competing or derivative product;
• access plans or data that belong to another person, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems;
• use the Service to violate any law, or to transmit malicious code or unlawful, harmful, or misleading content; or
• use the Service in any way that degrades, disrupts, or places an unreasonable load on it.

The Service — including its code, design, text, graphics, brand, and the retirement methodology and models it implements — is owned by UrbanRetire and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trade-secret, and other laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial planning. This license does not include any right to copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the Service or its methodology.

The retirement model is a proprietary trade secret. You may not extract, reproduce, or reuse it. “UrbanRetire” and associated logos are trademarks of the project owner.

You retain ownership of the financial information you enter. You grant us the limited rights needed to operate the Service — to store your plans under your email and to compute and display your results.

We aim to collect as little as possible: a plan comprises your email address and the profile you enter. Your in-progress draft is also cached in your browser's local storage. To operate the Service we rely on third-party processors (for example, a managed database provider for storage and an email provider to send one-time codes); those providers process data on our behalf.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter and for ensuring you have the right to enter it. You can delete your plans at any time from a plan's results page.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any estimate will prove accurate. Assumptions, rates, and outcomes are uncertain and may differ materially from reality.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, UrbanRetire and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, savings, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the preceding twelve months or the equivalent of USD 0 (the Service is currently free to use).

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; the “Effective date” above will change, and continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute arising from the Service or these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there.
